In early December 2021 our region seen a horrific storm of historical proportions. The day after the storm our team jumped into action. With our partnership with Good360, Walmart, and other partnerships we were able to provide those effected with necessities in the aftermath. As the need grew so did our response. We have helped over 600 families with dire needs.
As Media attention and many people helping started to dwindle we seen that the need to be present was still there. While we shifted focus from the immediate needs to the long term needs we grew our response to helping with rebuilding efforts. As many people needed assistance with rebuilding their homes, businesses, and lives we shifted to helping with building materials and making sure those effected were set up to continue their lives and minimize the stress on the individuals and families effected.
As we continue to help the community Allies in action still holds community pick up and distribution events at Mayfield Walmart, Dawson Springs Lodge, and the Old Middle School in Marshall County.
With the help we recieved from Heartland Equality we were able to focus on our family and not have to worry about the small details. They were a godsend after this horrible tragedy. We lost everything. They gave us bedding, towels, kitchen appliances, toys for the kids, and so much of our furniture. - Teresa M
Heartland was crucial to my mental well-being after the twister came through. We were sothankful for all the stuff they gave us to start our lives over. - Marcus B
